| Tricholoma portentosum
|Called the Streaked Tricholoma or Sooty Head, this mushroom
has a typically dark gray cap with fibrous streaks. Young caps
often show yellow and/or purple tones near the margin; center of
cap often black. Cap can be sticky or dry; up to 4 inches (10cm)
across, average 2-3 inches. Gills and stem white overall, but
usually show yellowish tints. White pine woods; November.
