|This stinkhorn mushroom has been called Lysurus periphragmoides for ages
and still is, but, evidently, it is not. See Lysurus species 01 at
MushroomExpert.Com for the gory details. It is a fascinating fungus no matter
the name. The collection pictured here was found in August growing from soil
beneath a mulch bed. Weather conditions were extremely hot and humid after
heavy summer rains.
