Marasmius sullivantii |
This gorgeous mushroom is rather common in the hardwood forests of Indiana, fruiting in the summer and into fall. Cap color a glowing orange-red when young, fading to an auburn brown. The stem is tri-colored. Spore print white. Marasmius sullivantii is a decomposer of forest floor debris; what we see as dead leaves and twigs this fungus sees as dinner. |
